New Lisbon Man Dies

New Lisbon, Jan. 12—Leland E Hammond,
50 years old, died at his home near the Brick School House this
afternoon. The funeral will be held from the family home on Thursday
at 1 o'clock. Burial will take place in the Brick School House
cemetery. A more complete obituary notice will appear in Tuesday's
Star.

New Lisbon, Jan. 19—A large number of
relatives and friends attended the funeral of Leland D. Hammond,
which was held at the family home at Brick School house, Thursday
afternoon at 1 o'clock, services being conducted by Rev. C. Vermilyea
of Morris.
Mrs. Howard Lull and Mrs. Lee Myers
sang two duets, "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and "Sweet
Bye and Bye." Many beautiful flowers, given by relatives and
friends of the family gave mute testimony of the esteem in which he
was held. The bearers were: Clyde Zimmerman, Elliot Johnson,
Clarence Polling, Arthur Winters, Fred Blanchard, and LaSalle
Brimmer.
Interment was made in Butternuts Valley
cemetery at Brick School house. Deceased was also survived by one
brother, William Hammond of New Berlin, whose name was
unintentionally omitted in the obituary.

Leland David Hammond was the son of William Horace Hammond 1850-1921 and Sally Devilla Walling Hammond 1851-1923. On June 25, 1902 he married to Ethel Audrey Lull 1884-1956. They had two children, a daughter Edith I. in 1909 and a son Leonard L. Hammond in 1911. His parents are also buried at Butternut Valley Cemetery in Otsego County near Garrattsville, NY.
