Duroes
Feted At Open House
On
40th Anniversary Sunday
There are 2 photos in this article that I hope to
be able to post in the future. Under the second photo of their
children and their families: It reads: Among those present was the
couple's son, his wife and twin children from Plattsburg, NY.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis J. Duroe were
feted Sunday, Oct. 27, at an open house in honor of their 40th
wedding anniversary in their home, Morris R.D. About 150 were
present.
Francis J. Duroe and Christina Cranston were married
Oct. 27, 1923 at Newburgh by her uncle, Rev. George M. Cranston.
All their married life has been spent in the Town of New Lisbon. Mr.
Duroe is a farmer, and Mrs. Duroe teaches fifth grade in Morris
Central School. They have two children, Mrs. Frances Jane Gobel of
Apalachin, a son, John Cranston Duroe of Plattsburgh, and four
grandchildren.
The occasion was arranged by their children and
Mr. Duroe's sisters, the Misses Eliza and Ruth Duroe, Norwich.
Several of their friends assisted in serving.
Guests came from Binghamton, East Guilford,
Laurens, Otego, Walton, Mt. Vision, East Elmhurst, New Berlin,
Endicott, Liverpool, Endwell, West Winfield, Apalachin,
Plattsburgh, Norwich, Garrattsville, Gilbertsville, New Lisbon
and Morris.
The Duroes received flowers, cards, besides other
gifts and money.
Addendum: You can see their marriage writeup in this
collection also.
This is from the Mary Boice Gale collection. I can
almost guarantee she was one of the people from East Guilford and was
helping with the serving since she was friends with the family.
