New
Lisbon Farmer Dies Suddenly at Family Home
Hartwick, April 25---Lee Gillette, 75, passed away
suddenly Sunday evening about 8:30 o'clock at his home in New Lisbon.
He had been in ill health for some time. Funeral services will be
held from the family home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev.
Charles Vermilya, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at
Garrattsville, will officiate. Interment will be in the cemetery at
Welcome.
He was born July 20, 1856, at New Lisbon, and had
always resided on the farm on which he died. When a young man he
attended Gilbertsville academy and also united with the Methodist
Episcopal church at Garrattsville. He was highly respected in the
community and his many friends will extend their sympathy to the
surviving members of the family.
Surviving are one son, Henry Gillette, South
Hartwick; three grandchildren, Edna, Bernard and Doris Gillette,
South Hartwick; one niece, Mrs. Belle Carkess of Lena, and two
nephews, Isaac Firth of Florida and Lee Fitch of Mohawk.
P. S. In his daughter Mary Gillette Harrington's obituary, he
was listed as Leander Gillette and her mother was listed as Matilda
Gardner Gillette.
Mary is also buried at Welcome cemetery, so I would
assume their mates
are also.
