Sloan of Hartwick Dies in Cooperstown Hospital
Hartwick, Dec. 22---Simeon Sloan, 82 years old, a
life-long resident of this village, died this morning at 3 o'clock at
the Mary Imogene Bassett hospital in Cooperstown, where he had been a
patient for several weeks.
Mr. Sloan was born in Cherry Valley, February 20,
1849. About 56 years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Anna
Curry, who died a year ago last June. He had always followed the
occupation of farming.
Surviving are one son, Horace Sloan, Chadwick; one
daughter, Mrs. Merton Beckley, Hartwick; one sister, Mrs. George
Wilcox, Morris; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Merton Beckely, Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.
Rev. George P. Kehrer, pastor of the Baptist church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Hartwick cemetery.
