Lydia M. Hume Dies At Home in Garrattsville
Was
Last of Family of Nine, Four of Whom Have Died
Within
Past Nine Months – Funeral Saturday
Garratttsville, June 4---Miss Lydia M. Hume, a
life-long resident of this vicinity, died at her home in this village
Wednesday as the result of a fall which she suffered about six weeks
ago, her condition being complicated by her advanced years, she
being in her 81st year.
Miss Hume is the last to survive of a family of nine
children, of whom four have succumbed within the last nine months,
the other three being Mrs. Jennie Robinson of Garrattsville, James
O. Hume of Defiance, O., and Rev. Henry R. Hume, D. D., of
Springfield, O. The only near surviving relatives are nieces and
nephews, among them being Mrs. Robert Hall of 62 Center street,
Oneonta.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2
o'clock from her home here, Rev. J. C. Calhoun, D. D., of the
Garrattsville United Presbyterian church, of which she was a charter
member and in which she had long been active, officiating. Burial
will be made in the Butternut Valley cemetery.
Miss Lydia M. Hume was born July 27, 1850, in the
town of New Lisbon, the daughter of Robert B. and Christine (Oliver)
Hume, and she had spent her lifetime in this vicinity. Wide circles
of friends will mourn her passing.
