Attend Funeral of Charles M. Southworth
New Lisbon, Nov. 9---Largely attended funeral services
were held for Charles M. Southworth from his home here Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. E. Hutchinson, pastor of the Zion
church of Morris, officiated and burial was in the church cemetery at
Morris.
Bearers were: George Rice, Ernst Thurston, Erie Smith
and Frank Durie,(?Duroe) all of whom were close neighbors of the
deceased.
Mr. Southworth was born in the town of New Lisbon July
22, 1868, and was the son of Robert and Amanda Garlick Southworth. He
was married September 12, 1904, to Mary Vonah Collier.
For many years he conducted a blacksmith shop in the
villlage and worked at the trade until his health force him to
retire. He had many friends and was a much beloved resident of the
community.
Three weeks prior to his death, Mr. Southworth was
stricken and forced to remain in bed. Besides his wife, he is
survived by a step-son, Lewis Collier; a brother Viessen Southworth
of South New Berlin; a niece, Mrs. Levi George of New Lisbon, and a
nephew, Claude Southworth of Yardley, Pa.
There were many floral tributes in evidence at the
funeral, testifying to the high esteem in which he was held by his
many friends and relatives. Those from out-of-town attending the
funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Southworth of New Berlin, Mr. and
Mrs. Irvin Pugh of Unadilla Forks, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scheff of East
Orange, N. J. , and Mr. And Mrs. W. I. Smith of Cooperstown.
