Pope, Amanda E. Colegrove 1863-1930 Edmeston Obituary

Mrs. Daniel Pope

The death of Amanda E. Colegrove, wife of Daniel Pope, occurred at her late home on South street early Tuesday evening. December 9, 1930, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Lorenzo P. and Martha Simmons Colegrove and was born October 27, 1863, on the home farm north of this village. She was married on August 2, 1882, and with the exception of a few months of her early married life in Leonardsville, her life was spent in Edmeston. She was in poor health for many years and was unable to take an active interest in affairs outside her home, and her time and strength were devoted to her family, near friends and neighbors.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Eva M. Pope, Mrs. W. C. Freytag of Albany, and Mrs. Ward S. Robinson and one granddaughter, Martha Jean Freytag, also her stepmother, Mrs. Ida S. Colegrove and two half brothers, Lynn and Hugh Colegrove.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Friday afternoon at two o'clock, her pastor, Dr. John F. Weinhauer officiating. Interment was made in Union cemetery. Many beautiful floral offerings were a mute testimony of the high esteem in which she was held and a memorial of her great love for flowers. The bearers were Chester Pope, Floyd Jackson, Bert Dutton, Harry Deming, George Payne and Harry Baker.
