Hinman, Ira
1851-1931 Morris Obituary
Ira
Hinman Dies
Ira Hinman, son of Miles and Alvira (Russell) Hinman entered into
rest early Sunday morning after a lingering illness of many months'
duration.
Mr. Hinman, one of eight children, was born December 6, 1851, on
the old Hinman homestead, near the Buck schoolhouse, in the town of
New Lisbon, where he spent his boyhood.
In early manhood, Mr. Hinman was united in marriage to Miss J.
Frances Carr and their entire married life was spent in Morris and
vicinity.
After Mrs. Hinman's death, which occurred February 15, 1927, the
deceased made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Homer J. Davis, where he was
tenderly cared for through long months of intense suffering by Mrs.
Davis.
Mr. Hinman was a very hard working man as long as his health would
permit, and he took an active interest in everything pertaining to
the development of Morris. For 17 years he was sexton of Hillington
cemetery and it was largely due to his untiring efforts that so many
of the lots are now endowed.
The funeral services will be held at his late residence on upper
Church street on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. F. G. Leonard
of the Universalist church officiating, with interment in the family
plot in Hillington cemetery.
There are Find A Grave memorials for his parents at Hillington
cemetery.
Both their death dates are listed as April 21, 1885.
You can link to his parents from Ira's memorial.
Mile's brother, Reuben Hinman, is my 4th Great Grandfather.
