Smith, Morris, Dies
April 1950, Morris---Erle A. Smith, Morris,
died at 3:50 p. m. Sunday. Funeral will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday
at Zion Episcopal Church here. The Rev. Carl F. Truesdale will
officiate. Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery.
He was born in New Lisbon Nov. 17, 1881, son of
William and Cora (Cook) Smith. He was married on Aug. 18, 1915, to
Harriett Moore at Morris. He had lived here since 1936, when he came
from New Lisbon.
He attended the New Lisbon school and was a graduate
of Morris High School. He formerly was a farmer but after coming to
Morris was a night watchman at the Linn Tractor plant and a school
bus driver.
He was a member of Zion church, the West Laurens
Grange and of the church vestry.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs.
Virginia Smith, Hartford, Conn.; two sons, Francis of Sidney and
Erle Jr. of Riverdale; and four grandchildren.
