Harriet
Tillyou Is Dead at 94
Mrs. Harriet S. Tillyou, 94, died 9:30 a. m.
yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Bowers, 12 Chester
St.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at
Howard Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial will be in Masonville.
Mrs. Tilyou was born in Putnam County, Connecticut,
Oct. 20, 1853, and moved here at the age of five. On Dec. 31, 1870,
she married Jerome Fuller of Masonville. Mr. Fuller died Sept. 25,
1873.
On Feb. 13, 1884, she married Frank Tilyou of
Masonville. He died Feb. 6, 1948. She was a member of the Baptist
Church at Masonville and Mount Vision. In 1918 she moved to Ilion
and was an active member of the First Baptist Church there.
She is survived by three children, Mrs. Bowers,
Mrs. Lewis Alger of Unadilla, and Fenimore Tilyou of 39 Ceperley
Ave.; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great
great grandchild.
Addendum: Tillyou is spelled two ways in this clipping.
I believe the correct spelling is Tilyou. May 1948 is handwritten on the newspaper clipping from the Mary Boice Gale Collection.

Tillyou Funeral Held
Funeral services were held yesterday for Mrs.
Harriett Tillyou, 12 Chester St. at Howard Funeral Chapel in
Franklin.
The Rev. Geroge Thompson, pastor of Oneonta Main
Street Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Masonville.
Grandsons of Mrs. Tillyou who acted as bearers were: Fenimore,
Percival and Bryson Bowers, and Bivan Tillyou.
Friends and relatives were in attendance from
Oneonta, Norwich, Binghamton, Franklin, Unadilla, Gilbertsville,
South New Berlin and Schenectady.
