Mrs. Bert Strait, Morris,
Dies After Long Illness
Esteemed Resident of That Community
Dies at Parshall Hospital Here—Funeral Wednesday
Morris, July 10---After many weeks of suffering, Mrs. Bert Strait
of Hargrave street, Morris, passed away at the Parshall hospital,
Oneonta, where she had been a patient for over a week, Sunday
afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, due to a complication of diseases.
Lelah M. Fish, youngest of the four children of Moses and Lydia (Lamb)
Fish, was born, August 9, 1875, in Otego, in which township she spent
her girlhood.
On December 25, 1900, she was united in marriage to
Bert Strait. Mr. and Mrs. Strait resided in Otego for a year, after
which they lived in the town of Butternuts for three years and since
that time, have always had a home in Morris, where Mr. Strait is now
assisting in the Dr. F. I Reed Animal hospital.
The deceased was a
woman, whose enthusiastic interest anddesire to be of service to others
was very marked. Sincerely devoted to her home and to her church, and
always active in the various branches of the latter as long as her
health permitted, she leaves a host of friends, who will cherish her
memory.
The immediate surviving relatives are the husband and a
sister, Mrs. Chloe Sheldon of Otego, one nephew and one niece, to all
of whom much sympathy is extended.
Funeral services, conducted by
Rev. Dr. C. E. Vermilya of the Methodist church, will be held at
Stillwell's Undertaking parlors in Hartwick Wednesday afternoon at 2
o'clock. Interment will be made in the family plot in the new part of
Hillington cemetery, Morris.
