Stella E. Wallace
MORRIS---Mrs. Stella (Eldred) Wallace, 94, of Morris
died Saturday, November 25 at Van Gorder Nursing Home in Otego.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
November 28, in Zion Episcopal Church, Morris, the Rev. William
Mathers, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery,
Morris.
She was born May 17, 1867 in the town of Morris,
daughter of John M. and Sarah (George) Eldred. She married Henry
Wallace of Morris at Oneonta Oct. 5, 1898.
A graduate of the first Teacher Training Class of
Morris Union School, and Oneonta Normal School, she taught in area
schools for several years and later was secretary and treasurer of
the Dimock Hollow Telephone Company for 18 years.
She was a member of Zion Episcopal church, Woman's
Auxiliary, and Zion Parish Guild. A daughter of The American
Revolution, Mrs. Wallace was also a past president and member of
Jewel Chapter, Order of The Eastern Star, for more than 50 years.
She was a member of The New York State Historical Society, the State
and National Granges, and the Butternut Valley Garden Club.
Survivors are: Nieces, Miss Gertrude M. Eldred of
Oneonta; a nephew, Clifford J. Eldred of Oneonta; three grand
nephews, and seven great grandnieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Sloans Funeral Parlors, Morris,
from 7 to 9 p.m. Today.
