Foote, Joyce Ruth 1930-2009 Morris Obituary

OBITUARY MORRIS-JOYCE RUTH FOOTE; Joyce Ruth Foote, 78 of Morris passed away  on January 2, 2009 at her home with her family at her side after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Sayville, on May 7 1930 the daughter of Allen and Ruth (Esser) Stryker. She was married to Donald Foote on July 2, 1955 in Sayville. He passed away December 7, 1994. She attained her Bachelors Degree from Geneseo College and was a Librarian at Churchville-Chili Central School, Bugbee School, New Berlin Central School and most recently Morris Central School since 1975. She retired from Morris Central School several years ago. She had very recently published her second book on Morris called” Morris, New York; A Look Back.” She had served as town and village historian for many years and was a trustee of the Hillington Cemetery Board, and an officer on the Morris Village Library Board and had served as president for several years. She was also the Zion Episcopal Church historian for many years. Joyce is survived by her mother, Ruth M. Stryker of Norwich, her 2 daughters, Natalie Sheldon and husband Jeff of Hartwick, Donna Henderson and husband Alex of Morris, her grandchildren Kaina Hanna and husband Mike of Woodbury, NJ, Korri St. John of Morris, Kaite Henderson of Otego, Emily Foote-Canney of Morris, a great grandson Gavyn Hanna of Woodbury, NJ as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many close and dear friends. Calling hours will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Zion Episcopal Church in Morris on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 4:00pm with the Rev. Robert E. Witt Jr. officiating. Areception will follow the service at the Zion Parish Hall.  Committal Services and burial will be held in Hillington Cemetery in the spring. Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
