Borghild Wust

EDMESTON — Borghild (Betty) Wust, 86, of Cooperstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
She had resided at Woodside Hall in Cooperstown for approximately one and a half years.
She was born on November 19, 1916 in Bergen, Norway, the daughter of Hans and Hanna Hovick.
She married Karl Johnson in 1935 who predeceased her in December of 1988.
She is survived by their children, Rev. Henry Johnson and wife, Janet, of Chambersburg, PA, Lennart Johnson and wife, Carol, of Burlington, Linnea Nelson and husband, Larry, of Hartwick; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Amy and Jay Lyon and family of Burlington, Alan and Keri Johnson and family of Burlington, Kristopher Johnson of Oneonta, Matthew Nelson of Mount Vision, Bryce Nelson of Hartwick, Karla Johnson, Kristine Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson.
She was also predeceased by a grandson, David Johnson, in 2001.
She married William Wust of Edmeston in 1989 who predeceased her in December of 2002.
Surviving are her stepchildren and their families, Charles and Nadine Wust, Sidney Wust, William Jr. and Susan Wust, John and Shelly Wust, and Richard and Michele Wust, all of Edmeston.
Borghild was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church in West Burlington. She was active in Home Bureau and served as a 4-H leader.
She was well known for her culinary talents and owned and operated the Karlsborg Tourist Farm with her husband for many years.
She worked as a chef for Stephen Clark of Cooperstown for thirteen years and also worked at the Thanksgiving Home in Cooperstown.
She loved to read and enjoyed her many plants and flowers. She will be long remembered for her generosity, gentleness and caring way.
The family expresses its heartfelt thanks to her sister, Erna Richards, her brother and his wife, Henry and Nell Hovick, for all their love and support. Also to their family friend, Ingeborg Quitzau and to Peggy and the staff at Woodside Hall for their kindness and caring.
Calling hours will be held at the Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin on Thursday, February 20 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the Saint John's Lutheran Church, West Burlington, on Friday, February 21 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Lynn Ash and the Rev. William Rittberger officiating.
Funeral arrangements are with the Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin.
