ROBERT E. KLINDT

Robert E. Klindt, 91, of Morris, NY, passed away November 17, 2015, at MI Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown NY.

Robert was born May 30, 1924, in Portlandville, NY, the son of Viggo and Vera (Thurston) Klindt.

Following graduation from Morris Central School, Class of 1941, Robert entered the armed services, proudly serving in the Army Aircorps. He was discharged in September 1945, after serving in WW II as a photo technician flying over Central Europe. Discharge Rank was Sergeant. Decorations and citations included the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and Good Conduct Medal.

Robert joined his father in the family Water Well Drilling business, and operated the well drilling and pump business until retirement at age 77. He was still being asked for advice on wells and pumps. He married Elizabeth Burdick in Morris, NY in 1949. Elizabeth passed on May 22, 1984 after 35 years of marriage.

He was a 79 year member of the Morris United Methodist Church and was active in a number of local organizations, including the Morris Fire Department, also serving on the Board of Trustees, the Morris American Legion Post 1135, Otsego County Amercan Legion, the 40/8 Voiture of Otsego County and the Morris VFW. He held many officer positions in all of these. Bob was still a member of the Empire State Water Well Driller’s Association and has been a long time member of the Sidney Boat Club, enjoying boating and camping in the Sylvan Beach area on Oneida Lake.

Robert enjoyed hunting in earlier years, taking many hunting trips up to Northern NY. Bob went snowmobiling with friends and family for many years and especially enjoyed family camping trips to Lake George. He was an avid reader, enjoying a good Western, and you could always find him with a book nearby. He loved his prized garden and was proud to show off the crop of vegetables, waiting patiently for that first tomato to pick. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially enjoying grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Janice Alger (Greg Elwood), son, Andrew Klindt (Joan Lawton), grandchildren, Michael Alger (Karrie Robinson), Andrea (Alger) Giles (Gregory), Theresa Case, Rebecca McMullen (Jesse), Jennifer Lawton and Joshua Mabe (Kim); great grandchildren, Sierra and Devin Alger, Hannah Giles, Tayler Fish, Amren Case, Tanner Wilson, Merissa and John Weir, Alexander, Kaydence and Zachariah Mabe; brother, Frances Klindt (Doris) and sister, Evelyn Caldera, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all loved very much by Robert, also known as Poppy and Uncle Bob.

Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, on Saturday, November 21 from 2:00-5:00 pm. The funeral will be on Sunday, November 22, at 1:00 pm at the Morris United Methodist Church, with full military burial services at the Hillington Cemetery in Morris following. A meal for friends and family will be provided at the VFW Post, located on Ellis Road, Laurens, after the burial service.

Veronesi, Albert W. 1914-2001 Pittsfield NY Obituary





Albert W. Veronesi, 86, of Pittsfield, died March 23, 2001, in Oneonta.

He was born May 27, 1914, in Smithton, Pa., son of Sam and Julia (Wexler) Veronesi.

He married Mary Ostrander on July 31, 1949. She survives.

He spent his childhood in the Pittsfield area.

He attended local schools in New Berlin.

He is survived by his son, Richard Veronesi of Phoenix; and his brother, Samuel R. Veronesi of Pittsfield.

He was a poultry farmer in the town of Pittsfield.

He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a Councilman for the town of Pittsfield.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin. He was a former member of the New Berlin Library Board and a member and past master of Phoebus Lodge #82 of New Berlin.
