BURLINGTON FLATS — Agnes S. Decker, 86, of Burlington Flats, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 17, 2003.
Agnes was born June 3, 1916, in Venice Center, the daughter of Edwin and Viola (Green) Sage.
She was married to George Burton Decker. He predeceased her in 1985.
Agnes knew Christ as her savior for more than 70 years and was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in New Berlin.
Agnes graduated from the Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, which is now the Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa. She taught for over 20 years in various Christian Schools, the last being in Bridgewater. In her earlier years she had been employed at the Otsego School in Edmeston.
She was an avid reader, a collector of books and bells, and also loved doing handiwork such as embroidery and needlepoint. Upon reflection: Agnes had an inner everlasting strength, her family was dear to her, and she was always available for them.
Agnes is survived by her children and their spouses, David and Judy Decker, Mary and Ken Lowe, James and Betty Decker, Daniel and Lois Decker, Benjamin Decker, Elizabeth Owens and Timothy Decker; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was one of 13 children, and is survived by three sisters and three brothers.
She was predeceased by six of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Berean Baptist Church, New Berlin, with the Rev. Gary L. Folz officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 20, 2003, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berean Baptist Church, New Berlin, prior to the service.
