BURLINGTON GREEN — Daniel
Yurenka, 87, of Burlington Green, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at M.I.
Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.He was born Feb. 4, 1912, in Little Falls, the son of Daniel and Elizabeth (Cizmar) Yurenka.
He married Lynetta F. VanWarner on May 7, 1938, in Garrattsville. She predeceased him on Nov. 27, 1997.
Daniel owned and operated his dairy farm in the town of Burlington, until his retirement. He was the director of the South New Berlin Milk Plant, a member of the Fly Creek Milk Plant, the Farmers Union, NFO, and was especially interested in following politics.
In his younger years he designed the logo for the Little Falls High School. During the 1930's and 1940's he played in the Burlington Flats Marching Band, and was also an avid trumpet player in a jazz band.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Judith Nathan and special friend, Burt McReynolds, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Daniel Rexford and Faith Yurenka of Garrattsville; his grandchildren, Corbin Nathan and his wife, Susan, of Washington, D.C., Brandon Nathan of Los Angeles, Calif., Ann A. Yurenka of Vernon and Steve Yurenka of Garrattsville; his great-grandchildren, Kayla and Ashley Eldred; and a special nephew, Rudy Neuman.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Neuman and Ann O'Neil.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with the Rev. John Young officiating. Calling hours are Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the spring at the Butternut Valley Brick School House Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daniel's memory to either the Garrattsville Emergency Squad or to Woodside Hall, Cooperstown.
Arrangements are by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
