John Russell Elliott
WEST LAURENS — John Russell Elliott, 50, of Crawford Road, West Laurens, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at Glens Falls Hospital.He was born Oct. 30, 1948, in Oneonta, the son of Alma (Naylor) Elliott and Francis Elliott.
He was married to Patricia Carey on Jan. 22, 1977, in Morris.
John graduated from Darrow School in 1967, and attended Bryant College. In 1968, he joined the H.W. Naylor Co., a manufacturer of veterinary pharmaceuticals and devices founded by his grandfather, Dr. Howard Naylor. John was the executive vice president and director of marketing for the Naylor Co. John served on the Board of Directors of Higbee Gaskets and Sealing Products Inc. of Syracuse, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hillington Cemetery Association. He also served for many years as a trustee and treasurer of Project 85 in Oneonta.
John was an avid golfer and a member of the Oneonta Golf and Country Club and the Oneonta Tennis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of West Laurens; a son, Brian of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother, Alma Elliott of Morris; and a brother, Howard Elliott of Morris; and also several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Episcopal Church in Morris, with the Rev. John Scott III officiating.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Morris Fire Department or Morris Emergency Squad in his memory.
Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
