Evelyn M. Stone
MORRIS — Evelyn M. Stone, 72, of Morris, died March 16, 2000, at M.I. Bassett Hospital.
She was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Morris, the daughter of Lynn Albert Foote and Clara Marie (Enos) Foote.
She married William E. Stone Sr. at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Oneonta on June 28, 1945.
She had worked as a key-punch operator for Amphenol Corp. of Sidney. She and her husband operated the Village Coffee Shop in Morris from 1970 to 1977.
She was a member of the Morris Fire Department Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, Holy Cross R.C. Church and the Morris Snowmobile Club. She was also a 4-H leader and a Girl Scout leader.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, William E. Stone Sr. and her children, William E. Stone Jr., James K. Stone, Nancey M. Pickens, Lynne M. Stone, Debra M. Convis, Mary M. Gray, Jane M. Scott, Stanley R. Stone and Michael M. Stone; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a sister, Mary Hoffman.
A son, Samuel R. Stone, predeceased her.
A funeral memorial service will be held Sunday, March 19, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Holy Cross R.C. Church in Morris. The Rev. John Burns will officiate.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 18, at the Johnston Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. A wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Hillington Cemetery in Morris at a later date.
Friends are invited to attend a reception immediately after the funeral service in the church reception hall. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Morris Fire Department or the Edmeston Fire Department in her memory.
Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
