GARRATTSVILLE — Dorothy Ada Chase, 78, of Garrattsville, passed away Friday, July 20, 2001, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1923, in the same house in Garrattsville that she was living in when she died.
She was the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Gardner) Harrington.
She was married to Glenn F. Chase Sr. on July 4, 1941, in the Morris Methodist Church Parsonage. Glenn passed away Sept. 28, 1994.
She was a homemaker and worked with Dr. George for many years as a veterinary assistant. Dorothy was an avid walker and bird watcher. She was notorious for her baking, gardening and being a friend to all. She was a member of the Garrattsville Methodist Church and the Garrattsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Steven Eggleston of Malta; a daughter, Darlene Mangone of Newton, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn F. (Pete) and Connie Chase of Rome; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Chase and Viola Harrington, both of New Berlin; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.
A memorial service will be held at the Garrattsville Methodist Church at a date to be announced.
There will be no calling hours, and burial will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Garrattsville Fire Department/Emergency Squad in Dorothy's memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
