GILBERTSVILLE — Alonzo
Bernis Musson, 95, of 277 County Route 4, passed away Thursday, Sept.
30, 1999, in The Hospital in Sidney.He was born in Gilbertsville, a son of the late Samuel H. and Gertrude Hakes Musson and received his education in Gilbertsville Academy. He later attended the State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Morrisville.
On Oct. 19, 1940, he was married to Ruth Smith in Norwich. Along with his family, Alonzo operated the family dairy farm in Gilbertsville.
He was an 80-year member of the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church, served as town supervisor for the town of Butternuts for 18 years, was chairman of the Otsego County Board of Supervisors, chairman of the County Forestry Committee and was instrumental in the establishment of the county park at Cope's Corners. Alonzo also owned and enjoyed vintage cars.
Surviving Alonzo is his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Anne Musson of White River Junction, Vt.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Martha and Carl Gus of Sauquoit, Dorothy Reed of Kansas City, Mo., and Molly and Charles Hall of Hamilton; and grandchildren, Tamara and Carl Kilborne, Michael Gus, Dana Reed, Heather, Daniel, Travis and Sarah Hall, and Benjamin, Samuel and William Musson. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Alonzo's memorial service, which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church.
Donations in Alonzo's memory may be made to the Gilbertsville Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
Arrangements are with the J. Donald Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit.
