GILBERTSVILLE — Dorothy
Hopkins, 74, of 26 Spring St., Gilbertsville died Friday, July 16, 1999,
at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.She was born in Morris on Aug. 16, 1924, the daughter of Louis K. and Sarah Thelma (Southern) Myers.
She married Milo Hopkins on April 23, 1946, at the Zion Episcopal Church in Morris.
Dorothy graduated from Morris Central School and was a lifelong resident of Morris and Gilbertsville.
She was employed by the Wilber National Bank of Morris for 14 years. Upon retirement, she continued to work for Wilber Bank in the summertime.
She was a past matron of the Eastern Star, and in her leisure time she was an avid reader, gardener and knitter.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Milo of Gilbertsville; one son, Bruce Hopkins and his wife, Cheryl of Oneonta; one granddaughter, Nicole Hopkins of Brooklyn; one sister, Jeanne Quintin and her husband, Eugene of Morris; one aunt, Rachel Gould of New Berlin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Myers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at the Christ Episcopal Church in Gilbertsville at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Frye, officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, when the family will be in attendance.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or the American Heart Foundation or the charity of one's choice, in her memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris.
