GILBERTSVILLE — Dorothy O'Hara Kast, 80, of Gilbertsville, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at her home in Gilbertsville.
She was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Gilbertsville, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Porter) Harrington.
She was married to Robert Kast for more than 20 years.
She graduated from Mary Washington College in Virginia.
In her younger years she was a stage actress, having performed with Van Johnson and Ronald Reagan. She then served as personal secretary to Ann Rockefeller in the Rockefeller Collection and was instrumental in the operations of the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York City.
Dorothy and her husband were very involved in the Gilbertsville Baptist art workshops, and the local historical society.
She was a life member of the Gilbertsville Free Library and was known among her friends to be a very modest and generous person.
Her husband, Robert H. Kast, and his five children survive Dorothy.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Gilbertsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randolph Palada and the Rev. Scott Harding officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Cremation was at the Hillington Crematory in Morris, and final resting place will be the Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Those who wish may make contributions to either the Gilbertsville Baptist Church Art Workshops or the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad in her memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris.
