Lebbeus M.
Loomis, 88, a former area resident, died Wednesday,
January 7, at the
Manor Nursing Center, Myrtle Beach, S. C., after
a long illness.
He was born May
8, 1887, in the Town of Burlington, a son of
William and Mary
(Ames) Loomis. He married Minna Sprague
January 1, 1909 in
Schuyler Lake. She died May 17, 1975
Mr. Loomis had operated a store for many years in Burlington and
later an automobile dealership in Oneonta.
He was a former member of the Oneonta Kiwanis Club and a former
member and director of the Oneonta YMCA.
Mr. Loomis was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Edmeston.
Surviving are a son, former Otsego County Judge Frederick W.
Loomis, Garden City, S. C.; a grandson, R. William Loomis, Edmeston;
and three great grandsons.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 11 from the Second
Baptist Chruch, Edmeston, with Rev. John Blackman, pastor,
officiating.
Burial will be later in Edmeston Union Cemetery.
