Hartwick, April 25---Mrs. Amelia Barton, widow of the
late Adelbert Barton, passed away at the home of her son, LeRoy
Barton, early Friday morning, April 22, suffering from a general
break down due to old age. Mrs. Barton had been tenderly cared for
by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Barton, for a long
time.
Mrs. Barton was born in Coventry February 18, 1845,
the daughter of George and Sophia Foote.
She is survived by five children, LeRoy Barton of
New Lisbon, Apollos Barton of Garrattsville, Pearl Card of
Gilbertsville, Perry Barton of Morris, Luella Galusha of
Canajoharie, and one son by a former marriage, Fred Cooper, Owego
who was a unable to attend the funeral on account of illness. Also
Pearl Card of Gilbertsville was unable to attend on account of
illness. Also 20 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, and two
sisters, Mrs. Lillian Barton of San Point, Idaho and Mrs. Nettie
Keler of Cannonsville, and one brother Apollos Foote, of Bainbridge.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of
Garrattsville and of the Ladies' Aid society.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 24, with
a prayer at the home of her son, LeRoy Barton, and the services at
the Methodist Episcopal church in Garrattsville, and burial was in
the family plot in Butternut Valley cemetery.
