New Lisbon, Jan. 19—A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral of Leland D. Hammond, which was held at the family home at Brick School house, Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, services being conducted by Rev. C. Vermilyea of Morris.
Mrs. Howard Lull and Mrs. Lee Myers sang two duets, "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and "Sweet Bye and Bye." Many beautiful flowers, given by relatives and friends of the family gave mute testimony of the esteem in which he was held. The bearers were: Clyde Zimmerman, Elliot Johnson, Clarence Polling, Arthur Winters, Fred Blanchard, and LaSalle Brimmer.
Interment was made in Butternuts Valley cemetery at Brick School house. Deceased was also survived by one brother, William Hammond of New Berlin, whose name was unintentionally omitted in the obituary.
Leland David Hammond was the son of William Horace Hammond 1850-1921 and Sally Devilla Walling Hammond 1851-1923.  On June 25, 1902 he married to Ethel Audrey Lull 1884-1956.  They had two children, a daughter Edith I. in 1909 and a son Leonard L. Hammond in 1911.  His parents are also buried at Butternut Valley Cemetery in Otsego County near Garrattsville, NY.
Where dates are missing, I have added them from my research. This family connects into mine via Sally Walling.  Donna Davenport
