EDMESTON — Robert L. Sweet, 89, of Edmeston, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Gilbertsville, the son of William H. and Marion (Borden) Sweet.
He married MaryAnn Pylinski in August 1952. She predeceased him on June 28, 2001.
Robert retired from Kraft Food in Lowville after 42 years; he had been employed in the maintenance department.
He was a member of the Wharton Valley American Legion Post No. 1311 and the VFW Post No. 6912 in Lowville.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946.
He is survived by his sons, Robert L. Sweet Jr. and his wife, Donna; James W. Sweet and his wife, Joanne; and Richard W. Sweet; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, William Sweet; and two sisters, Nellie Sweet and Mildred Ward.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with the Rev. Lorraine Zimmerman officiating. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today, with an American Legion service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the Catskill Area Hospice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
