Douglas G. Palen

GILBERTSVILLE — Douglas George Palen, 51, of Gilbertsville, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born Nov. 13, 1950, in Goshen, the son of Wallace K. and Helen M. Palen.
He graduated from Wallkill Central School and attended Cornell University.
He was a former member of the New Hurley Reformed Church of Wallkill.
He had lived in the Gilbertsville area for the past 25 years and had worked as a self-employed farrier.
Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his parents; a daughter, Danielle Palen of New Cannan, Conn.; his brothers, Alan D. Palen of Campbell Hall, and Les K. Palen of Trout Creek, Mont.; his sisters, Donna P. Clark and husband, Warren, of Wallkill, Laure J. Palen of Kingston, Amy J. O'Hearn and husband, Edward, of Laconia, N.H.; his nieces, AM2 Jennie L. Clark of U.S. Navy at Lemoore, Calif., Ali and Tami Palen of Walden, Kerri Krazia of Walden, Gerri Dedi of Kingston, Emma O'Hearn of Laconia, N.H.; a nephew, Michael Keator Price of Walden; and aunts and uncles.
There will be no calling hours, and a memorial service will be held at Doug's home on Saturday at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Otsego County Federated Sportsman's Clubs or the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad in his memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
