EDMESTON — MaryAnn Sweet, 75, of Edmeston, died peacefully Thursday, June 28, 2001, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in New Haven, Conn., the daughter of Julius and Susie (Tchechickevich) Pylinski.
She married Robert L. Sweet Sr. on Aug. 8, 1952, in the South New Berlin Parsonage.
MaryAnn retired from Kraft Foods in Lowville, where she had been employed as a quality controller.
She was a member of the Church of the Nativity and served in their Alter Guild. MaryAnn was also a member of the Wharton Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post #1311 and held the position of Sergeant of Arms and organized the Poppy fund-raiser for many, many years.
MaryAnn enjoyed bowling, golfing and loved to watch stock car racing.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her son, Richard W. Sweet; her step children and their spouses, Robert L. Sweet Jr. and Donna and James W. Sweet and Joann; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Edward Pylinski and Albert (Bud) Pylinski; and her sisters, Helen Mockovciak and Janina Piazza.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Peter, Sylvester and Walter Pylinski; her sister, Genevieve Nestved; and her step sister, Julia Gramberg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Edmeston, with Fr. John Burns officiating. Calling hours are Friday, June 29, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home in Edmeston. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. and a Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday evening.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in MaryAnn's memory to the Catskill Area Hospice, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home in Edmeston.
