BUTTERNUTS — George J. Klingman, 72, of the town of Butternuts, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at his home.
He was born in Oneonta, on Feb. 22, 1929, the son of George David Klingman and Martha (Eggler) Klingman.
He married Caryl Hutchens on April 14, 1956, in Gilbertsville.
George was a very respected auto mechanic serving dealerships in Oneonta and Walton, until his retirement.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
George is survived by his wife, Caryl, of the town of Butternuts; his son, Keith Klingman and his wife, Penny, of Gilbertsville; his granddaughters, Stacey and Tracey Klingman of Gilbertsville; a sister, Anna Banias and her husband, Stephen of Portlandville.
He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Zimmerman, and a brother, Warren Klingman.
A memorial service will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mary Ann Linder officiating.
Final resting place will be in the East Sidney Union Cemetery at a later date.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad in George's memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
