ONEONTA — Edith (Edie) M. Crandall, 63, of Oneonta passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at the Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford.
She was born April 8, 1939, in Morris, the daughter of Aaron P. and Edna Eldred.
She worked for many years, until her retirement, as a housekeeping manager for the Super 8 Motel in Oneonta.
Edith will be remembered for her very strong faith and her dedication as a member and volunteer at the Salvation Army Church, where she taught Sunday School.
Edith was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Merlin Crandall, of Oneonta; her three daughters, Valerie Hoffman and Edward Keeley of Davenport Center, Laurie Hanvey and Chad Smith of East Meredith, and Christie Southern of Binghamton. Four brothers, Benjamin Eldred and his spouse, Melody of Oneonta, Donald Eldred and his spouse, Kerrie of Oneonta, Kenneth Eldred of Oneonta, and Harold Hammon of Maryland; a sister-in-law, Elsie Davis; many nieces and nephews.
Her parents and a brother, Aaron Eldred Jr. predeceased her.
Funeral and committal services will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Capt. Michael Knepp of the Salvation Army Church officiating.
Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home from noon until the time of the funeral service at which time the family will be in attendance.
Burial will take place in the spring in Hillington Cemetery, Morris.

Arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.
