Gladys Harrison
ONEONTA — Gladys Harrison, 87, of Oneonta passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the home of her son, Duane C. Harrison in Windsor.
She was born March 5, 1915, in Morris, the daughter of Frank H. and Mary (Daniels) Miller.
She married Merton Harrison on July 21, 1944, in Mount Vision. He predeceased her on Feb. 7, 1990.
She was a graduate of Laurens High School and Cayuga College. Gladys taught high school in Campbell, Schenectady and Laurens. She was also a case worker for the Otsego County Department of Social Services for 15 years.
She was a member of the Mount Vision Bible Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Hartwick Historical Association.
Gladys enjoyed participating in community organizations and activities. She was also very interested in preserving the history of the Bowe Hill Community. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers. She was very committed to her family and will be missed by all those who knew her.
She is survived by her two sons, Duane C. Harrison and his spouse, Jeanne, of Windsor, and Lynn M. Harrison of Arlington, Texas. Her sister, Katherine Kimmey of Mount Vision; and her brother, Herbert Miller and his spouse, Marjorie, of Mesa, Ariz., survive her; a sister-in-law, Marion Mather of Laurens; and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Christopher Ellis, pastor of the Mount Vision Bible Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in Mount Vision Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon at the Bookhout Funeral Home from 4 until 6 p.m. at which time the family will be in attendance.

Crandall, Edith (Eldred) 1939-2002 Born in Morris NY

ONEONTA — Edith (Edie) M. Crandall, 63, of Oneonta passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at the Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford.
She was born April 8, 1939, in Morris, the daughter of Aaron P. and Edna Eldred.
She worked for many years, until her retirement, as a housekeeping manager for the Super 8 Motel in Oneonta.
Edith will be remembered for her very strong faith and her dedication as a member and volunteer at the Salvation Army Church, where she taught Sunday School.
Edith was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Merlin Crandall, of Oneonta; her three daughters, Valerie Hoffman and Edward Keeley of Davenport Center, Laurie Hanvey and Chad Smith of East Meredith, and Christie Southern of Binghamton. Four brothers, Benjamin Eldred and his spouse, Melody of Oneonta, Donald Eldred and his spouse, Kerrie of Oneonta, Kenneth Eldred of Oneonta, and Harold Hammon of Maryland; a sister-in-law, Elsie Davis; many nieces and nephews.
Her parents and a brother, Aaron Eldred Jr. predeceased her.
Funeral and committal services will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Capt. Michael Knepp of the Salvation Army Church officiating.
Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home from noon until the time of the funeral service at which time the family will be in attendance.
Burial will take place in the spring in Hillington Cemetery, Morris.

BINGHAMTON — Claudine M. Fields, 84 years, of Binghamton and Port Orange, Fla., and formerly of Oneonta, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
She was born July 26, 1917, in Morris, the daughter of Hugh and Lillian (Weatherly) McKnight.
She married Harry Fields Sr. on Aug. 20, 1936, in West Laurens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harry Fields Sr.; her five children and their spouses, Barbara and Don Tripp, Bette and Dick Utter, Harry and Pat Fields Jr., Joyce and Scott Haight and Ginny Spry; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; her sister and her husband, Hazel and Lloyd Geisler; two sisters-in-law, Frances Beagle and Evelene Sheldon; and one brother-in-law, Cecil and Liz Field; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Claudine was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly Henry.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Fred Albrecht, pastor of the Otego United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family will be present at the funeral home from noon until service time on Wednesday, for those who wish to call.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one's choice in loving memory of Claudine M. Fields.

DADE CITY, Fla. — Mildred F. (Bemis) Darling, 80, died Jan. 17, 2002, at Heritage Park Specialty Center, where she had resided for several years.
She was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Morris, N.Y., the daughter of Worthy and Irene (Colburn) Bemis.
She first married Frank E. Bryant, and later married Lester Darling, who predeceased her on June 9, 1999.
She is survived by a son and two daughters and their spouses, Frank N. (Stub) and Shirley Bryant of West Laurens, N.Y., Florence and Donald Gildner of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Sally and Darwin Card, of New Berlin, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was laid to rest in Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City, Fla.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Ms. Faith E. Kesel, 78, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., formerly of this area, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at home.
She was born in Morris on Sept. 21, 1922.
She was a first lieutenant in the United States Army, serving in India during World War II.
She was a graduate of Syracuse University and Boston College.
She moved to Florida in 1955 from Oneonta.
She had been a night supervisor at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Coronado Shuffleboard Club and the Little Theater, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
She is survived by her son, Michael Kesel of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Paul Edgerton Jr., of Spencertown, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Wojcikowski of High Point, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
