FORMER RESIDENT OF LAURENS AND NORMAL GRADUATE.
Miss Christina Irena Cranston, daughter of the late
John O. Cranston and Hannah B. Cranston of Laurens, was married at
noon on Saturday, October 27, to Francis John Duroe, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Collingwood Duroe of New Lisbon. The ceremony was performed in
the presence of a few relatives and intimate personal friends at
Grace Methodist Episcopal church at Newburgh, by Rev. George M.
Cranston, pastor of the church and an uncle of the bride. The
impressive double ring service was used.
After the ceremony the wedding party returned to the
parsonage, where a wedding luncheon was served; and shortly
afterwards Mr. and Mrs. Duroe left by auto for New York city and New
England. Their return trip will be via. The Berkshires and the
Mohawk Valley to their future home in New Lisbon.
Mrs. Duroe is a graduate of the Morris High school
and of the Oneonta State Normal school, and for four years had been a
successful teacher in the public schools of Corinth. Mr. Duroe is a
successful farmer of New Lisbon, owning the old Duroe homestead.
Among the guests present were Mrs. H. B. Cranston of
Corinth, Mrs. George M. Cranston of Newburgh, Mrs. Elwood Reil of New
Paltz, Miss Jane Duroe of New Berlin, Vernon E. Duroe and daughter,
Katherine, of New York city, and Mr. and Mrs. Viggo Klindt of
Portlandville.
