Lisbon, Is Dead
Hartwick, Feb. 4---Alphonse C. Stevens, a resident
of the town of New Lisbon, was found dead in bed at his home this
forenoon by one of his neighbors. Dr. B. F. Bishop of Garrattsville
and Dr. George E. Schoolcraft of Hartwick were called and pronounced
the case heart attack. The body was removed to the W. H. Stilwell
funeral home, where the funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2
o'clock. Rev. Clyde Hurlburt pastor of the Mt. Vision Baptist
church, will officiate. The body will be placed in the Mt. Vision
cemetery vault until spring.
Mr. Stevens was born July 25, 1854, and never
married. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Mumford of New
York city, Mrs. Alice Peabody of Groton, Mass., and Mrs. Mary Drake
of Washington, D. C.,; Two nephews, Curtis and George Mumford of
Oneonta, and one niece, Mrs. M. C. Wright of Mt. Vision, who is
spending the winter in St. Cloud, Fla.
