L. Sheldon Dies
At
Home of Daughter
Hartwick, Dec. 9---Charles L. Sheldon passed away
this morning at 5:20 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bertha
DeMett, on West Main street, this village, where he had been ill of
pneumonia for about two weeks. He had not been in good health for
about two months.
The funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. DeMett
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. R. C. Updyke of the Christian
church will officiate. Burial will be in the Hartwick cemetery.
Mr. Sheldon was born in Illinois, December 25, 1856,
coming to New York state when a small boy. He was married to Miss
Mary E. Robinson of Hartwick, December 20, 1874. Mrs. Sheldon died
several years ago and on January 16, 1916, he married Mrs. Emma
Barrett, who survives him.
Surviving besides his wife, are the three children,
Fred Sheldon of Dover, N. J., Mrs. Bertha DeMett and Mrs. Clara
Tuller of Hartwick; one sister, Mrs. Mark Stanton of Nunda, also
three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mr. Sheldon had been a resident of Hartwick for many
years and was employed by Moody and Gould of Oneonta for several
years before coming to Hartwick.
