Kathryn Camp Yager

GILBERTSVILLE _ Kathryn Camp Yager, 87, died Dec. 19, 2011, at Langdon Place, Keene, N.H.

She was born April 27, 1924, in South New Berlin, the daughter of Anna Grover Camp and Linn Camp.

She was married to James H. Yager on June 29, 1946, in Oneonta. She attended Oneonta State Teachers College and taught fifth grade and was vocal music teacher at Gilbertsville Central School, retiring in 1983. At the time of her retirement she was assistant principal. Mrs. Yager was well-known for her musical ability and she enjoyed teaching piano after she retired. For many years she conducted an annual holiday Cantata for the Gilbertsville Baptist Church, where she was a member, also serving as church moderator for 37 years and a member of the church's Board of Trustees.

She was predeceased by her son, Stephen J. Yager; and her husband, James H. Yager.

She is survived by her son, Kevin J. Yager, his wife, Ginny and their children, Eric and Sara; and by her daughter-in-law, Robin Yager and her daughter, Jill Yager Matice and husband Scott, and Sandra Yager McDougall and husband Jamie. Mrs. Yager is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, in the Gilbertsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kurt Funke officiating. Burial will be immediately following in Brookside Cemetery.
