Mason, Veronica (Smith) 1917-2006 New Lisbon NY Obituary
She was born June 21, 1917, in New York City, the daughter of James and Angeline Smith.
She married Frank "Barney" Mason in 1939. While her husband served in the United States Army during World War II, Ronnie worked at a defense plant. She worked beside Frank at their fish market in Brooklyn until they and their children moved to New Lisbon in 1962.
For many years Ronnie was a stay-at-home mom, loving and caring for her family. She returned to work later in life at the Otsego School and then at Pathfinder Village. She truly loved this work, which brought her many children to teach and care for. Failing eyesight ended her work career. At 65, she achieved a longtime goal of earning her GED.
Ronnie enjoyed growing roses and watching the birds. She loved to read and always took pleasure in music. She looked forward to the sing-a-long at Hampshire House, where she resided until shortly before her passing. All her life, the needs of her family came first.
This warm, loving woman is survived by her son, William, and his wife, Deborah, of Schenevus; her daughter, Kathaleen, and partner Catherine Holmes of Oneonta, and her two grandchildren, Christopher ("CJ") and Erin.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 2001. They will be together again.
