Morris, March 17---Mrs. Rose M. Pegg, widow of John
E. Pegg of the town of Morris, who had been seriously ill for the
past three weeks, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Edwards, in Maple Grove Friday afternoon at 1:45.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Frederick Evenson of
Gilbertsville, will be held at the Edwards home in Maple Grove Monday
afternoon at 1:30. Interment will be in the family plot beside the
husband and son in the new part of Hillington cemetery, Morris.
Rose M. Carr, oldest child of Erastus and Sarahette
(Bennett) Carr, was born January 10, 1864, in the town of Butternuts.
Later the family moved to the vicinity of Morris, where she spent
her girlhood.
On September 14, 1880, she was united in marriage to
John E. Pegg of Cherry Valley but nearly all their married life was
passed in Morris township.
To them were born five children, Mrs. Lynn Edwards
of Maple Grove, Harry Pegg of South Edmeston, Walter Pegg and Ira
Pegg of Morris, and Maurice Pegg, who was killed in 1914.
After the death of Mr. Pegg on January 30, 1922,
Mrs. Pegg went to Maple Grove to reside with her daughter, where she
was tenderly cared for during her many weeks of invalidism.
The deceased was a consistent member of St. Stephen's
church in Maple Grove and attended services as long as her health
permitted. Mrs. Pegg was a woman of unfailing sympathy and kindness
of heart. In the neighborhood of her home she was especially
esteemed as she was ever ministering to the wants of others as long
as her health permitted.
The immediate surviving relatives are the daughter
and three sons mentioned, four grandsons, two granddaughters, one
great-granddaughter, two brothers, William H. Carr of Herkimer and
George W. Carr of New Lisbon; and two sisters, Mrs. Della
Southworth of New Lisbon and Mrs. Nellie Jester of Unadilla, to all
of whom sincere sympathy is extended.
