Kenneth S. Colburn

BURLINGTON — Kenneth S. Colburn, 71, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born March 2, 1930, in Burlington, the son of Howard A. and Pearle M. (Hickling) Colburn.
He married Josephine E. Jacobs on Aug. 4, 1951, at the Burlington Flats Methodist Church.
Kenneth retired from the Otsego County Highway Department.
For many years previous, he had been an active farmer and was fondly referred to as the FARMALL Tractor Man.
Kenneth served in the United States Navy from 1948-1950.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed his family, crafts and craft shows.
He also instilled a love of railroads and trains to his children and grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Josephine; his children, Janice Smith and her friend Nick Costelli of Pennsylvania, Kenneth S. Colburn Jr. of Missouri, Donna Rowe of Burlington Flats, Rose and her husband, Michael Walton, of New Berlin, and Lois Colburn and her friend Dan Miller of Florida; 12 grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Ruth Miller of Garrattsville, Betty Walitynski of Clearwater, Fla., Donald Colburn of Garrattsville, Wanda Tiffany of West Burlington, Margaret Crumb of Geneva, Edwin Colburn of Garrattsville, Sally Pickens of New Berlin, Jone Lum of Edmeston, and Patty Mahar of Burlington Green.
Kenneth was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Riordan; and his brothers, Cecil, Fay and Howard Colburn.
Graveside memorial services will be held Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. at the Butternut Valley Brick School House Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Highfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Kenneth and his daughter Carol Riordan to the Catskill Area Hospice, 541 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
