FLY CREEK — Mr. Harry Lee Winnie Sr., 91, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Albany Veteran's Hospital, Albany.
He was born Sept. 7, 1910, in Burlington, the son of the late Lee and Dora (Shillieto) Winnie.
He married Beatrice Moore in 1937. She predeceased him in 1955.
Harry attended Cooperstown Central School.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific.
He was the co-owner of Winnie's Garage in Fly Creek from 1946-1965.
He was a member of the Walter P. Eggleston Post American Legion, Cooperstown. He was of the Methodist faith.
Harry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Judy Winnie, of Fly Creek; his daughter, Audrey W. Wart, of Cooperstown; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Winnie of Fly Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Mosher; brothers, Robert and Lewis Winnie.
Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.
There will be no public calling hours or services.
Internment will be at a later date in the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery.
Contributions in Mr. Winnie's memory may be made to the Fly Creek Methodist Church, Fly Creek.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
