NEW LISBON — Dagmar Danielsen, 78, of New Lisbon, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1924, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Oscar H. and Dagny (Hansen) Johnson.
During World War II, she worked at the Swedish Legation in New York City and after the war was employed by the Swedish/American Steamship Lines until she married Walter.
She married Walter on Aug. 23, 1947, in Manhattan. They were married over 54 years.
She loved gardening, reading and traveling. She was an active member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Laurens and had served as president of the church women's group for several years.
Dagmar is survived by her husband, Walter, of New Lisbon; her three daughters, Laraine Marthinsen and her husband, John of Sherborn, Mass., Lois Horst and her husband, Jeffrey of Hyde Park and Lynne Johnson and her husband, Randy of Natick, Mass.; three brothers, Norman Johnson and wife, Betty, and Leroy Johnson and wife, Susie, all of Chula Vista, Calif., and Allan Johnson and his wife, Rosalind of Long Island. She was blessed with her grandchildren, Eric and Nils Marthinsen, Joshua, Benjamin and Seth Horst, Vanessa Georgiadis and Alice Johnson; along with several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and cousins.
A sister, Soveig Johnson, predeceased her.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Laurens.
Committal services and burial will be in Hillington Cemetery in Morris at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Those who wish are asked to contribute to the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Laurens, in Dagmar's memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
