GILBERTSVILLE — Wilson
A. "Pete" Breslin, 85, of Gilbertsville, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at
the New York State Veterans' Home in Oxford.He was born April 17, 1914, in Gilbertsville, the son of Leo and Phoebe Breslin.
He married Bertha Mae Schaffer on July 21, 1932, in Gilbertsville. She died on Jan. 6, 1992.
Pete served in the United States Army during World War II, and was discharged in 1946 as a corporal.
For a period of 38 years, retiring several years ago, he worked for E.C.D. Bendix in Sidney, where he was a shop foreman.
Pete was a member of the Gilbertsville First Presbyterian Church, and American Legion Post 183, Sidney. He was a 44-year and honorary life member of the BPOE Oneonta Lodge 1312, as well as serving as exalted ruler, past district deputy grand exalted ruler, and past state vice president.
He was an avid golfer, and a former member of the Oneonta Country Club.
Pete is survived by a daughter, Wilma Marie Laraway of Venice, Fla.; and a son, Richard D. Breslin of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters and a brother, Lillian Smith of Oneonta, Sally Finch of Oxford and Gordon Breslin of Oneonta; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Howard and Frederick Breslin and Helen Rivenberg.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at 1 p.m. in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Boardman, pastor of the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.
His family will receive friends one hour before the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad.
Arrangements are by Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.
