Benjamin Morehouse
NEW LISBON — Benjamin B. Morehouse, 92, of New Lisbon,• ied Thursday, June 8, 2000, in the town of Middlefield.
He was born Oct. 27, 1907, in Garrattsville, the son of Elbert (Bert) and Ethylene (Yates) Morehouse.
He married Alta Wagner on July 17, 1933; she died April 23, 1998.
He spent his childhood in the New Lisbon area.
He was a 1926 graduate of Morris Central School and 1928 graduate of the State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill.
Benjamin is survived by two sons, Daniel Morehouse and his wife, Linda, of Garrattsville and Grover Morehouse and his wife, Maryann, of Genoa, Ohio; two daughters, Denise Hughes and her husband, Gordon, of New Hartford and Audrey Teed of Morris; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, Henry Morehouse, in 1951.
He was a milk tester from 1928-1933 and a dairy farmer on the 102-year-old family farm in Garrattsville. He retired in 1995 at the age of 88.
He was a 75-year member of the Grange; member of the Advisory Board of Wilber National Bank; on the board of directors of First National Bank of Morris; member of and former vestryman for the Zion Episcopal Church, Morris; supervisor for the town of New Lisbon from 1962-1967; and member of the board of supervisors of Otsego County from 1962-1967.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the Zion Episcopal Church, Morris, with the Rev. John L. Scott of the Zion Episcopal Church, Morris, officiating. Interment will be in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the Garrattsville Fire Department, Garrattsville.
