Eliza Ellis of
Morris Passes Away
Morris, July 9---After many years of failing health,
Mrs. Eliza A. Ellis passed away at the family home in Elm Grove
Saturday night at 10 o'clock.
Eliza A. Burdick, youngest daughter of Nelson and
Anna (Calder) Burdick, was born in Morris, near the Pittsfield town
line, August 7, 1847, where she spent her girlhood. In 1873 she was
united in marriage to Frederick Ellis, of Elm Grove, a valued enploye
for years of the Benjamins of Elm Grove. Mr. Ellis died in February,
1904.
Mrs. Ellis was a woman of unfailing sympathy and
kindness of heart, always ministering to the wants of others as long
as her health permitted. For some time she had been almost helpless.
Throughout this affliction her patience was very marked and she
leaves a host of friends who will cherish her memory.
The immediate surviving relatives are: A son, George
Ellis of Elm Grove; three step-daughters, Mrs. Albert Tillson of
Oneonta, R. D., Mrs. E. E. Carpenter of Barre, Vt., and Mrs. Earl
Potter of New Berlin; also several nieces and nephews, to all of
whom sincere sympathy is extended at this time.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. L. Curtis
Denney, pastor of Zion Episcopal church, were held at the Ellis
residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the
family plot in Hillington cemetery.

of Cerebral Hemorrhage
Morris, July 7---Mrs. Eliza A. Ellis, 87 years old,
widow of Frederick Ellis, passed away at the family home here
tonight, at 10 o'clock from cerebral hemorrhages after 10 years of
invalidism.
Funeral services will be held from the family home
Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. L. Curtis Denney, pastor of
the Zion Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be made in
the family plot in Hillington cemetery.
