Raymond G. Sherburne
EATON — Raymond G. Sherburne, 83, of Sherburne Road, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2003, at University Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born April 21, 1919, in the town of Butternuts, a son of the late W. Gilbert and Jennie Bidwell Sherburne, and was a graduate of South New Berlin High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served his country in World War II.
On Nov. 18, 1939, Ray was united in marriage to the former Frances B. Silvernail in Otego.
He was employed by the Morrisville-Eaton Central School as the head custodian in the high school, and as a bus driver until his retirement. He had previously been the plant manager and dairy inspector for Sealtest Foods in Eaton.
Mr. Sherburne was very active in his church and his community. He was a member of the Eaton Community Bible Church; a member and past chief of the Eaton Volunteer Fire Department, and a past district commissioner.
He was a past president of the Central New York Firemen's Association, which gives a yearly award in his name; a past president of the Madison County Firemen's Association, and a past trustee of the Firemen's Home from 1980-1990.
He was also a member of the F&AM Butternuts Lodge No. 0515 of Gilbertsville.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Sherburne; a son, Robert R. Sherburne of Delray Beach, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Art Zimmer of Syracuse; his grandchildren, Jenny and Jack Lewis of Sagauche, Colo., and John Sherburne of Wilmington, N.C.; a great-granddaughter, Amy Grace Lewis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, from the Eaton Community Bible Church, Brooklyn Street, Eaton. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Upton, at a later date.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Eaton Community Bible Church, Eaton, N.Y. 13334; the Eaton Fire Department, Eaton, N.Y. 13334; the Firemen's Home, 125 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson, N.Y. 12534; or to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.

GILBERTSVILLE — Wilson A. "Pete" Breslin, 85, of Gilbertsville, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at the New York State Veterans' Home in Oxford.
He was born April 17, 1914, in Gilbertsville, the son of Leo and Phoebe Breslin.
He married Bertha Mae Schaffer on July 21, 1932, in Gilbertsville. She died on Jan. 6, 1992.
Pete served in the United States Army during World War II, and was discharged in 1946 as a corporal.
For a period of 38 years, retiring several years ago, he worked for E.C.D. Bendix in Sidney, where he was a shop foreman.
Pete was a member of the Gilbertsville First Presbyterian Church, and American Legion Post 183, Sidney. He was a 44-year and honorary life member of the BPOE Oneonta Lodge 1312, as well as serving as exalted ruler, past district deputy grand exalted ruler, and past state vice president.
He was an avid golfer, and a former member of the Oneonta Country Club.
Pete is survived by a daughter, Wilma Marie Laraway of Venice, Fla.; and a son, Richard D. Breslin of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters and a brother, Lillian Smith of Oneonta, Sally Finch of Oxford and Gordon Breslin of Oneonta; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Howard and Frederick Breslin and Helen Rivenberg.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at 1 p.m. in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Boardman, pastor of the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.
His family will receive friends one hour before the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad.

Zeland Boice

NEW BERLIN---Zeland P. Boice, 59, of the Town of Pittsfield, died Thursday, September 26, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, after a short illness.

He was born June 1, 1915, in the Town of New Lisbon, a son of Frank and Leona (Brooks) Boice. In October 1941, he married Rosie Harden. Mrs. Boice died June 25, 1947.

Mr. Boice was a dairy farmer all of his life, and was a World War 2 veteran.

He is survived by two sons, William F. Boice, Delhi, and Zeland S. Boice, New Berlin RD; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Candee) Hasbrouck, West Coxsackie; five grandchildren; two brothers, Hiram Boice, Bainbridge and Arthur J. Boice, New Berlin, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Gale, East Guilford.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 28, at the Dakin funeral Home, New Berlin, with the Rev. Dwight Kenyon, pastor of the Berean Baptist Church, New Berlin, officiating.

Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery, Morris.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday.
