Elbert S. Miller

Elbert S. Miller, 83, of 15 Greene St., Oxford, N. Y., died Friday, April 23, 1971 at his home following a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, the former Fannie Smith, Oxford; two daughters, Mrs. Wenzel (Florence) Roth, Encino, Calif., and Mrs. Gustave (Wanda) Heck, of Binghamton; 1 son, Russell Miller, Cazenovia; ten grandchildren, uncluding Mrs. Frances Kurau, Binghamton, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. From the Baptist church of Oxford with the Rev. George F. Dutton, pastor of the Oxford Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial followed at Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.

Addendum: Elbert Salisbury Miller was born June 11, 1987, the youngest of 6 children of Edward P. and Martha Ann Lewis Miller at East McDonough, Chenango County, NY.

His siblings were Annette 1871-1909, Hattie 1874-1936, Bertha Maud 1876-1948, and Lovisa E. 1878-1905 and Tracy Elnathan Miller 1883-1946.

His first wife was Inez M. Levisee (1887-sometime before 1820). She was the mother of his 5 children: Lucy Lovisa 1905-1926, Russell Budd 1907-1997, Florence Louise 1909-1996, Lowell N. 1910-1910, and Wanda Myrtle 1911-1990.

He married Fannie Mae Smith in 1820 and they celebrated their 50^th Anniversary in 1970. She died in 1972.

Martha Maud (Miller) Gale, Elbert's sister, was mother to my Uncle Edward Gale.

MRS. FANNIE MILLER

Mrs. Fannie Mae Smith Miller, 83, of 15 Greene St., Oxford, died Sunday (Oct. 22, 1972) at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.

She had been a life long resident of the Oxford area and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Oxford.

Her husband, Elbert S. Miller, died April 23, 1971.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gustave (Wanda) Heck of Binghamton and Mrs. Wenzel (Florence) Roth of Encino, Calif.; a son, Russell B. Miller of Cazenovia; a nephew, Douglas Decker of South Sidney; a grandniece, a grand nephew, 10 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchldren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich. The Rev. George F. Dutton, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Oxford, will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.

Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9.

Morris, July 1---Miss Katherine June Niles, only child of Mrs. Marian Newton Niles of Morris, and Harry B. Winner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon A. Winner of Oxford were married at the Methodist parsonage at 10 a. m. Saturday by Rev. Dr. C. E. Vermilya, pastor of the church. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marble of Morris, brother-in-law and sister of the groom.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Winner are well known in Morris, where their many friends will extend best wishes.

F. Taintor Corbin, 72, dies in Binghamton,

funeral held

F. Taintor Corbin, 72, of Oxford died in Binghamton on Thursday, November 21. He was born in McDonough on January 15, 1885, the son of Frank T. and Sarah Brewster Corbin.

F. Taintor Corbin was a graduate of Oxford Academy and attended Rutgers Preparatory School and Rutgers College at new Brunswick, N.J. Where he was a member of the Lelta phi Fraternity.

On August 7, 1914 he was married to Josephine R. Roesch, who survives him.

Mr. Corbin was a retired post office employee. He first entered the postal service as a rural mail carrier in Norwich in August of 1917. In 1918 he transferred to Oxford as a rural mail carrier. In 1933 he was appointed clerk here and served the local post office until his retirement in 1949.

He was a pioneer in the formation of the Lake Ludlow Club, a past president of that organization and vice president at the time of his death.

He joined the Oxford Rotary Club in 1937 and maintained continuous membership in the club until January of this year.

Surviving are his wife Mrs. Josephine Corbin; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Parciany of Guilford; two sisters, Mrs. Roy C. Burr and Mrs. Ernest H. Rapalje; a brother, Eliot Corbin, all of Oxford and two grandchildren, Sally and Peter Parciany of Guilford.

Funeral services were held from the Seymour Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23 at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. George Dutton officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.
