ATHENS, Pa. — Mildred M. Dixson, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002.
She was born May 21, 1907, in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of James and Marian Ferguson Mead.
Mildred lived most of her life in Morris, N.Y. She worked for many years at Morris Central School as a cashier/cook in the cafeteria.
She will be remembered by her gift of hospitality to family, friends and traveling missionaries. She was a member of the Morris Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years in the primary department. She loved the Lord, and her home and heart were always open to those in need for a listening ear or transportation to the doctors. She gave her life ministering to family and friends whether for physical, spiritual or emotional needs.
Mildred was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Bruce A. Beardsley; her second husband, F. Earl Dixson; and her daughter, Catherine A. Beardsley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne B. and Kenneth N. Cooke of Bentley Creek, Pa.; grandchildren, Daniel and Joyce L. Cooke of Bentley Creek, Pa., Aimee and Phillip Comfort of Bath, N.Y., Nathan B. and Terri L. Cooke of Lancaster, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Peter, Ariel and Victoria; one nephew, Robert Dyckman Jr.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa.
Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Ferguson, pastor of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, officiating and the Rev. John McConnell of the Southside Alliance Church of Elmira, N.Y., co-officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris, N.Y.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, 31 S. Broad St., Morris, NY 13808.

MIDDLEFIELD — Minerva H. West, 94, of Edmeston died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, in Middlefield.
She was born Sept. 10, 1907, in West Burlington, the daughter of Waldo and Ada (Talbot) Bennett, and spent her childhood in the West Burlington area.
Minerva was predeceased by her husband, Harold West, in 1966, as well as her three sisters and eight brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeannine and Dale Palmiter of Edmeston and Priscilla and Fred Frair of Newborn, Ga.; two grandchildren, David Parker of Danielsville, Ga., and Susan Docteur of Farmington; three great-grandchildren, Marc Docteur, Kaylee Parker and Matthew Parker; and two nieces, Norma Ramsey and Phyllis Whitten.
Minerva was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in New Berlin and the Episcopal Church of Women of West Burlington.
The funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in New Berlin. The Rev. Charles Taylor will officiate.
The internment will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in New Berlin.

GARRATTSVILLE — Lillian M. Hickling, 94, of Garrattsville died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born in Mount Vision on Oct. 11, 1907, the daughter of Courtney S. and Bertha (Naylor) Hoose.
She was first married to Leon G. Tilley, who died Jan. 16, 1951. She was then married to Clesson Hickling, who died several years ago.
She was an 80-year member of the Otego Valley Grange, and also a member of the New Lisbon Senior Citizens Club and the Mount Vision Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Robert Tilley and his wife, Constance, of Mount Vision; her grandchildren, Deborah Green and her husband, Henry, of Cooperstown, Paula Robinson and her husband, Robert, of Mount Vision, Robert W. Tilley of Powder Springs, Ga., Jeffrey Tilley and his wife, Laurie, of Mount Vision; her great-grandchildren, Kimberley Wilkerson, Megan Green, Natalie Green, Jesse Tilley and Shalyn Tilley. Her sisters, Marion Card and her husband, Vivan, of Delhi, and Vivian Briscoe of West Oneonta, also survive her.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Hoose.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time. Graveside service will be at a later date.
Those who wish are asked to donate to the Garrattsville Fire Department or Emergency Squad in her memory.

GARRATTSVILLE — Graveside memorial services and burial for Mrs. Hickling, who died Aug. 26, 2002, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, in the Mount Vision Cemetery, Mount Vision, with the Rev. Roger Yoder officiating.

PITTSFIELD — Florence E. Musk, 94 years, of Pittsfield, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Norwich.
She was born Oct. 7, 1907, in the town of Gilbertsville, the daughter of Alvin and Margaret (Watts) Austin.
She married Clifton W. Musk on Nov. 2, 1929. He predeceased her in 1978.
She spent her childhood in the Gilbertsville area. She was a graduate of Mount Upton Central School.
She is survived by her daughter, Ada Mae Musk Burrs of South New Berlin; adoptive son, Paul Wayne Musk of New Berlin; and two sisters, Esther Ingalls of Franklin and Irene Phillips of Sidney.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Elizabeth in 1933; two sisters, Ethel Ingalls and Lina Barnes; and one brother, Henry Alvin Austin.
She worked as a child-care provider, farmer and nurse's aide for the Chase Nursing Home.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Berlin. She was a member of the Home Bureau & Grange.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler of the First United Methodist Church in New Berlin officiating.
Interment will be in Copes Corners Cemetery in the town of Gilbertsville.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Dakin Funeral Home of New Berlin.
