Funeral of Mrs. Lina G. Tuttle

Largely Attended Thursday Afternoon

New Lisbon, March 6---The funeral of Mrs. Lina Gillett Tuttle, who died Monday at 10:15 a. m. at the home of her nephew, Myron E. Gillett, was held at her late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was largely attended by friends and relatives. Rev. E. E. Hutchinson, rector of Zion Episcopal church at Morris, of which deceased had long been a member, officiated.

The many beautiful flowers given by family and friends bore mute evidence of the esteem with which she was held. The bearers were : Edwin Stafford, Bert Stafford, Frank Stafford, and Will Stafford. Interment was in the family plot in Hillington cemetery.

Deceased had been in failing health for nearly two years, and for nearly two months had been confined to her bed and in a serious condition. Death was due to cancer of the stomach. Through all her intense sufferings she was patient and uncomplaining, always with a cheerful smile and pleasant word to all.

A woman of fine attainments, greatly devoted to her home and friends, she was held in highest esteem by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who sincerely mourn her passing, and unite with the family in their sorrow.

She was born near Gilbertsville April 11, 1853, a daughter of Myron and Elizabeth (McGeorgia) Gillett, and when she was a small child the family moved to the farm where she died and where much of her life was passed.

On December 10, 1875, she was united in marriage with William Gilbert of New Lisbon, who died a short time afterward. May 7, 1879, she married Dr. William B. Chalmers of Edmeston, and for a number of years they resided at Hartwick, where he practiced his profession until ill health compelled him to give up his practice. He was an inmate for several years of the Binghamton State hospital, where he died nearly 30 years ago.

In February 1915, she married Elias N. Tuttle of Columbus, who died seven years ago. Upon his death she returned to her parental home, where she has since resided with her nephew, who with a niece, Miss Edith Gillett of Upper Montclaire, are her only near surviving relatives.

Died Friday Evening, After Long Illness

Morris, May 17---Funeral services for Mrs. F. G. Leonard, who died Friday evening, after a long illness, were held at the Universalist church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services were largely attended. Rev. Hugh S. Tigner, pastor of the Chapin Memorial Universalist church in Oneonta, officiated. The committal service of the Order of Eastern Star was used at the grave. Mrs. Leonard was an officer of the organization.

The pall bearers were F. B. Kellogg, Harry Sargeant, Benjamin Stebbins, and Charles Harrington.

Born, January 20, 1853, the daughter of Solomon and Marie (Porter) Marsh, she was educated at Gilbertsville academy. She married George M. Colvin of Morris in 1880. He died, April 5, 1903. Five years later, June 20, 1908, she married Rev. Leonard, pastor of the Universalist church here.

Surviving are her husband and three sisters, Mrs. Franklin Harris of Morris, Mrs. George Stebbins, Mrs. Ira Davis of Gilbertsville, and one nephew, Benjamin Stebbins of Gilbertsville. Esteemed by a host of friends, Mrs. Leonard's loss will be sincerely mourned.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kellogg of Northport, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrington, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Stebbins, Miss Mary Hurlburt of Gilbertsville, Mrs. Telfer and Mrs. Fitch of Burlington Flats, Charles Breffle and Mrs. Amy Breffle of Oneonta and Miss Nellie Reynolds of Garrattsville.
