Wales, Gertrude
1904-1932 Cooperstown Obituary
Mrs.
Gertrude McKay Wales
Dies
in Cooperstown Hospital
Cooperstown, Aug. 17---Many friends were shocked and
saddened when it became known about the village this morning that
Mrs. Gertrude McKay Wales, wife of Harris Wales of Fly Creek, had
died at 10:45 o'clock Sunday night in the Mary Imogene Bassett
hospital, where she became a patient Sunday afternoon after a four
days' illness with appendicitis. Peritonitis had developed, and the
patient never rallied from the operation which was performed during
Sunday evening.
Mrs. Wales was the daughter of Jacob K. McKay of
Milford, and was born in St. Joseph, Mo., 28 years ago. She moved
east with her parents, living at Milford, where her mother's death
occurred a few years ago. Mrs. Wales by profession was a registered
nurse, having received her training in the Mary Imogene Bassett
hospital and at the time of her resignation about a year ago, she was
acting supervisor of nurses in Bassett hospital.
Surviving are her father, above mentioned: her
husband, Harris Wales, and an infant son, Warner McKay Wales, 10
months old, to all of whom the deepest sympathy of a large circle of
friends will be extended in their deep sadness.
Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.
