Robert James Hill
GILBERTSVILLE — Robert James Hill, 77, of Gilbertsville, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.
He was born in the town of Butternuts on April 26, 1925, the son of Harold and Sarah (Olmstead) Hill.
He was married to Esther Lamphere in the Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville on Jan. 6, 1944, a marriage of more than 58 years.
He had worked at the G.L.A. of Norwich for 15 years and then operated his own dairy farm from 1961 until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the Butternuts Valley Grange, No. 1533; the Butternuts Lodge, # No. 515 F.&A.M.; Otsego County Farm Bureau; an honorary member of the Klipnockie Beagle Club.
He had served as a director of the R.E.A. for 25 years; past president and member of the Gilbertsville Board of Education; past member of the Holstein Friesian Association; past adviser of the Otsego County Junior Holstein Club; a past member of the town of Butternuts Planning Board; dog Enumerator for the town of Butternuts; Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club; and the Dairymen's League.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, of Gilbertsville; his children, Susan Pochy and her husband, James, and their son, James, Dennis Hill and his son, Jason, and daughter, Ashley, Michael Hill and his wife, Barbara, and their children and spouses, Amy Proskine and husband, Zachary, Benjamin Hill, Crystal Michaud and husband, Travis, and Patrick Hill; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Hill, Garrett Proskine and Hunter Michaud. He is also survived by a brother, Royce Hill and his wife, Darlene; two sisters-in-law, Ethyle Canada and Helen Quinn; a brother-in-law, Lewis Lamphere; an aunt, Marion Lilley; and also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A granddaughter, Katelyn Hill, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at the Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Boardman officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church on Friday.
Committal services and burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.
Friends are asked to make donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Chase Nursing Home in his memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Thompson, Ruth E. (Sweet) 1925-2002 Edmeston NY Obituary

Ruth E. Thompson
EDMESTON — Ruth E. Thompson, 77, of Edmeston died peacefully Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany with her family by her side.
She was born May 21, 1925, in Burlington, the daughter of Cass and Charlotte (Klock/Lytwynec) Sweet.
She outlived two husbands, Peter Pylinski of Edmeston, and Warren (Tony) Thompson of Gloversville.
Ruth retired as post master of the Burlington Flats Post Office on May 1, 1990.
She was also a 43-year member of the Wharton Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post 1311.
Ruth was a loving wife, parent, grandparent and friend, who found happiness with her family, friends, watching current events, and educational television as well as reading.
In her later years, she developed a love for Drew Carey and "Who's Line Is It Anyway?," which she enjoyed because they made her laugh and she loved to laugh.
She is survived by her brothers, Douglas Sweet of Richfield Springs, Wayne Sweet of Frankfurt, and Steve Lytwynec of California; her children, Jack Pylinski of Louisville, Ky., Kris Aparicio of Edmeston, Gretchen Belden of West Edmeston, Mark Pylinski of Honolulu, Hawaii, Toby Thompson of South New Berlin, Janelle Ross of Edmeston and their spouses; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home in Edmeston on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, from 6 to 9 p.m. (with an American Legion Auxiliary service to be held at 7 p.m.) Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 1 p.m., with calling hours from 11 a.m. until the service.
Interment will be held at Edmeston Union Cemetery, Edmeston, following the memorial service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ruth's memory to the Edmeston Free Public Library.

Dauchy, Walton T. 1925-2002 Burlington Flats Obituary

Walton T. Dauchy
BURLINGTON FLATS — Walton Talbot Dauchy, 76, of Burlington Flats, died Sunday, June 9, 2002.
He was born July 25, 1925, in the town of Burlington, the eldest son of Myron David and Margaret Ellen (Crumb) Dauchy.
He was a graduate of Edmeston Central School, Class of 1942.
He married Evelyn Mattison on Nov. 8, 1943, in the Baptist Parsonage in Burlington Flats.
He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, joining "Patton's Army" through the Battle of the Bulge, liberating the famous Lipazzaner horses. He marched through Europe and ended in Austria, receiving the Bronze Star for his actions. He remained in Europe for another year helping displaced people find their way home.
He returned home to help his father in the Burlington Flats Sawmill, until Hartwick College called him back to school, where he attained his bachelor of science degree. He continued his education at the State University College at Oneonta, where he attained his master's degree.
His joy was teaching young people at Morris and Oneonta schools. Walton took great pride in teaching history and making it come alive and be meaningful. He was chosen to mentor and teach children with problems learning, emphasizing old-fashioned work ethics and values to reach their potential.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing all of his life.
He was a former member of "The Farmers Lodge," F.&A.M. of Edmeston.
Walton is survived by his wife, "Marv" Evelyn M. Dauchy, of 58 years; his son, David Myron Dauchy and wife, Kathryn, and their son, Todd and wife, Nicole, and their children, Megan and Bryan; a son, Robert George Dauchy and sons, Timothy, Daniel and Andrew; a son, Walton Frederick Dauchy and his son, Travis, and daughter, Brenda; a daughter, JoAnne Deller and her husband, Russell, and their son, Christopher, and daughter and husband, Loralei and Phineas Marr, and their daughter and husband, Amy and Rodger Pape Jr.; two sisters, Janet Baulch and her husband, Richard, and their children, Shari Lou Baulch McConnell and husband, Michael, and Gregg Baulch and his wife, Lynn and their children, Jake and Hannah, and MaryLou Dauchy.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jack; and his special aunt, Eloise Crumb, "Aunt Ellie."
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the Dauchy residence in Burlington Flats.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends are asked to please attend the graveside services with military honors, that will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, in the Burlington Flats Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider donations to the Town of Burlington Veterans Memorial Park for a special memorial dedicated to Walton Talbot Dauchy.

Kolvik, Loretta B. 1925-2002 Garrattsville NY Obituary

Loretta B. Kolvik
GARRATTSVILLE — Loretta B. Kolvik, 76, died peacefully at her home in Garrattsville.
She was born Oct. 12, 1925, in the Bronx, the daughter of John and Loretta (McGrath) Brophy.
She married John Kolvik on Oct. 21, 1945, in the Bronx. He died Sept. 30, 1983.
Loretta was a homemaker and super mom. She had resided in Garrattsville for over 31 years and had previously lived in Paramus, N.J.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church of Morris.
Her hobbies were ceramics, knitting and crocheting, but most of all she enjoyed her family and grandchildren, giving them unconditional love.
Loretta is survived by her children, Richard Kolvik and his wife, Debra, of Morris, Kristopher Kolvik and his companion, Karen Pasternak, of Morris, Daniel Kolvik and his wife, Dona, of Pittsfield, Karen Bodie and her husband, Chuck, of New Berlin, Loretta, Erna, Elaine and Teresa Kolvik, all of Little Ferry, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Kolvik of Stockholm, N.J. She was blessed by her grandchildren, Tracy, Michael, Richard, Sara, Erik, Elizabeth, Dakota, Blaize, Chance, Chase, Danielle, Leanne and Lindsay; along with two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Nathan; a sister, Eileen DeSotto; and her dear friend, Kitty Heelein; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, John Kolvik, who died Aug. 20, 1999; two sisters, Eleanor Gaul and Kathleen D'Avanzo; and a brother, Michael Brophy.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Holy Cross R.C. Church in Morris, with the Rev. John Burns officiating.
Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
